[Poly Entry 11:] Decent food GET!

[Have a scene where it appears to look like a view from the edge of a counter, which one can deduce as the kitchen from the refrigerator seen in the center of the screen along with the pile of dishes and towels everywhere. One perfect mess that can be expected of the home of a diligent researcher ~~without his girlfrie.. I mean assistant;; /cough~~.

The sound of sluggish foot steps are heard when the gray-haired man finally managed to drag himself into the kitchen for, what he hoped, a decent morning breakfast. A scratch of his head, a light yawn and his stomach growling, he hadn't eaten anything decent since yesterday besides drink plenty of water ~~and alcohol~~ and possibly nibble at what seemed edible amongst the excessive pile of grease that he was forced to eat. In fact, the pile of towels were all covered in nothing but grease from trying to dab some of it off the food. A quick glance towards his efforts made the man sigh as he placed a hand onto his forehead.

What a mess...

He reluctantly opened the frig when the expression on his face spoke for him- a relieved smile on his face. If one were to observe closely enough, a sneaky saliva glistened by the corner of his mouth. Klarth basked in its glory for a few more seconds like an idiot before taking a few things out to make and bringing it over to the counter. Noticing that the device was on, he quickly picked it up.]

Achaaaa... This thing was on all night? Geez... Where is my head, honestly.

[He gave it a weary look before turning it off.]

[ooc: Hey just returned from a long hiatus! And so, to explain what Klarth's been doing, he's been first checking on his friends when they were here, then a short grievance process since they all left him so he did quite a bit of thinking to himself and what to do next for a few days, and then back to researching the new information he was able to acquire before those ppl left. He was also helping people during Prince Nuada's raid and usual things when there's a curse going on and so forth. If there's a conflict let me know! But those are my assumptions for now~ also this is backdated to morning! Thanks!]

[He took her compliment with a smile of his own. Following suit, he fell into a deep thought as well as he listened to her voice her thoughts.]

Yeah. Those deities... we're up against something bigger than I imagined. They truly shouldn't be taken lightly.

[He stretched out while placing the hat back on his head.]

Ah~ back to square one I suppose, though... [He placed a hand onto her shoulder with a confident smile across his face.] We'll succeed next time. And if not, then try try again as they say. [He chuckled and began to wander back towards the kitchen where he left his mug, making an offer.]

Something I could get you? Coffee? Juice?

We already knew the deities were bad news. This just gets us one step closer to figuring out the nature of their power--and how we can stop it.

[Rita's train of thought was interrupted when the hand came to rest on her shoulder. The unexpected contact made her stiffen up immediately, not quite sure how to react, even after Klarth moved away.]

Uh...Okay, juice is fine...

Juice it is then. [Klarth retrieved the juice from the refrigerator and poured some into a glass.]

Here you go. [He placed it in front of an empty seat as he took one himself. Giving small grunts like an old man, he took a small sip from his mug with a semi-satisfied smile.]

Does anyone help you with your experiments back at home, Rita?

[She went ahead and sat as well, gulping down half the juice. Guess she was thirstier than she realized.]

Not really. There's other mages, and we compare notes and results from time to time, but we work alone for the most part. They're too stubborn to agree on anything half the time, anyway.

[He laughed to the truth spoken in her words. Many of them were too stubborn, including himself. Not that he was about to admit to it anytime soon.]

The same. Though I have an assistant. Loud and rambunctious but a very helpful assistant nonetheless.

[He warmly smiled to the thought of Mirald, the only person who believed him from the start besides Magnus of course. Regardless, he was pleased to hear that Rita still had connections with others in the field and those she could collaborate with unlike an outcast like himself.]

[The slight skepticism on her face gave away that she had no idea what was so funny, really.]

Huh. I'd think being loud and rambunctious would be pretty distracting if you're trying to work on something.

[She couldn't help but be a bit curious though, too. What was it like to work with someone who appreciated and understood what he was doing? The truth was she was considered something of an outcast among the mages for being both smarter and younger--and, okay, a little obsessed.]

[He laughed more to her reasoning.]

True enough. But it's 'usually' for good reasons. Scolding, for one, is her specialty.

[For example, like scolding him to remember to eat. He took another sip.]

How many years have you been studying blastia?

So she makes sure you're not slacking off.

[She said it with an amused grin, then tapped her chin.]

Hm...I guess it's been almost six years now.

[He almost spatted out his coffee before him. Klarth looked at Rita with an astound look. Just how old was she!?]

Six... Six years!? How old were you when you started?

[Rita was pretty unfazed; that was the usual response she got.]

Since I was about ten. And I was always interested in blastia and magic before I started seriously studying them.

[Klarth recovered from the shock as he relaxed his shoulders and simply stared. Ten. He had to think long and hard as to what the hell he was doing when he was ten years old. ~~Besides playing epic pranks on Mirald;;~~]

Haaa... So wait, you're sixteen now? [Thank goodness she was at least of age, he thought with a sigh. Saying it more to reassure himself than really confirming her age.]

Were your parents mages as well then?

[She had to think about it for a moment--her birthdate had never been very important to her. It was just a number, really.]

...Almost, I guess. Maybe in a month or two.

[As for her parents, well-]

Beats me. I don't really remember them.

[Al...most. He ignored that fact and decided to focus on the latter. He studied her face as she spoke of her parents or lack there of. Damn, it was the wrong way to swing the conversation.]

I see... [He calmly commented.] Then how did you come to know of blastias?

They were just always around, as far back as I can remember. Until recently, they were a major part of everyday life, after all.

Hm. [He briefly concurred.]

And how do you plan on improving the one you have? If you give me a list, I'll see if I could gather any of those items you need.

[Rita closed her eyes and hummed a little as she thought about what she would need. If Klarth could manage to find some materials here, it would be make things easier.]

All right. There might be some you can find or put together here, so I'll leave them to you. The others...

[Her brow furrowed in thought, considering what to do about the other items while she fished a pen and crumpled bit of paper from one of her pockets. Supposedly, she could get her items from home, but she wasn't so sure she wanted to resort to that. Not yet, anyway.

After scribbling out a few items in barely-legible handwriting, she handed the list to Klarth.]

Here you go. These would be big help if we can use them.

[Klarth took the list from her and quickly scanned through it. Some names sounded familiar but regardless things that probably wouldn't easily be obtained here. Still he had to give it a try. He gave a quick nod.]

All right. I'll see what I can find. Anything that will help create the blastia we need.

Okay. And as for extending the usage, I've got a couple ideas. If I can overcome repulsion forces...maybe create a stable lattice structure...Hmm, an aer catalyst might--no, that's no good.

[She was mumbling, pressing her fingers to her forehead as she thought out loud.]

...Oh yeah. Klarth, it might be helpful if we went over the particulars of summoning. I bet we could improve the time if we properly configure the blastia to work more efficiently with your technique.

[He quietly listened to her mumble off more terms he wasn't familiar with but the gist was there.]

Agreed. Ok. [He finished his cup of coffee and took in a deep breath before starting.] Let me begin by reiterating the principles behind summoning. The art, as you've witnessed, involves the channeling of mana through the body in order to communicate with the spirit, which one has formed a pact with. That mana is then needed in abundance to actually call forth the spirit.

As I've mentioned in the past, unlike elves, humans unfortunately do not have the natural ability to connect and communicate with nature or in this case, mana. So besides collecting the summoning artifacts, such as this ring, [He took the diamond ring off his finger to show her.] I had to create more accessories capable of doing just that, including these. [He slid his hand across his tattooed arm.]

Ancient markings that aid in drawing mana towards the body. One of the reasons why I'm capable of gathering mana and focusing it all at a single point. Hence the glyph that appears once that's been done along with the correct chant.

Any questions so far?

[Once again, Rita was fascinated. Markings to draw in mana, artifacts to act as a means of connection--it was almost like blastia! The tattoos were of special interest to her and when he indicated them, she nearly jumped out of her seat.]

No way! Could these be formulas for manipulating the mana directly with your body? Ah, it's no good, I don't know these symbols--What do they mean?

[He gave a faint smile when she asked recalling the exact day he had it done and the sacrifice he made for it.]

I was once told that they behave in the same manner as carved seals. An old woman, a fortune-teller was the one who performed the ritual, stating that it's a declaration to be involved with the spirit world. Unfortunately, anything beyond that is a mystery even to me.

A fortune teller?

[She was a little more skeptic of that, never having believed superstitious stuff (she swears!). But maybe this old woman simply got ahold of the knowledge somewhere.]

I see, so...Hm, maybe these are the kinds of formulas developed for mana use in the future--that's still assuming our worlds are one and the same, of course. A variation on the Rizomata formula? Maybe I should see what kind of results I can get if I incorporate these.

[Her voice took on an almost manic tone at the end as she imagined experimenting with them.]

[The fortune teller who worked in mysterious ways. The number of stories he had heard of this woman from his colleagues and the like were astounding. Rumors had it that she may have even been partially elf. He was desperate at the time though over the years, he knew just how helpful the markings truly were. He definitely felt the difference.

Klarth gave a thoughtful look. That may just be it. Thinking of the possibilities excited him as well.]

Perhaps. There's no telling the number of possible advancements in the future. That may very well be the case if they are connected.

[That tone gave him a jolt of excitement and fear at the same time. He couldn't help but be curious though did he want to know?]

[Even though she didn't have concrete proof that their worlds were the same, the numerous similarities they had found seemed too many and too close to be simple coincidences. Rita felt the probability was pretty high.]

No kidding. A lot can change, even in a short time.

[She felt that twisting in her gut again that reminded her of what Klarth had told her about mana and magitechnology. The implication was still bothering her, much to her annoyance; in an effort to ignore it, she steered the conversation back to the spirits.]

...So anyway, how long did you study summoning?

[Relieved to see she dropped the thought, he noticed the uneasiness and allowed it to slide. He lightly chuckled to the question and fell silent for a moment. Thinking about it, he thought to himself. It's already been that long since you've disappeared... huh... Magnus.]

Eleven years. [He finally answered, expressing the hardship he went through during those years with the deep tone of his voice. He tipped his hat, adjusting it on his head out of habit to hide his solemn face.]

It's been eleven years now. How time sure does fly, ha ha ha..
