[Poly Entry 11:] Decent food GET!

[Have a scene where it appears to look like a view from the edge of a counter, which one can deduce as the kitchen from the refrigerator seen in the center of the screen along with the pile of dishes and towels everywhere. One perfect mess that can be expected of the home of a diligent researcher ~~without his girlfrie.. I mean assistant;; /cough~~.

The sound of sluggish foot steps are heard when the gray-haired man finally managed to drag himself into the kitchen for, what he hoped, a decent morning breakfast. A scratch of his head, a light yawn and his stomach growling, he hadn't eaten anything decent since yesterday besides drink plenty of water ~~and alcohol~~ and possibly nibble at what seemed edible amongst the excessive pile of grease that he was forced to eat. In fact, the pile of towels were all covered in nothing but grease from trying to dab some of it off the food. A quick glance towards his efforts made the man sigh as he placed a hand onto his forehead.

What a mess...

He reluctantly opened the frig when the expression on his face spoke for him- a relieved smile on his face. If one were to observe closely enough, a sneaky saliva glistened by the corner of his mouth. Klarth basked in its glory for a few more seconds like an idiot before taking a few things out to make and bringing it over to the counter. Noticing that the device was on, he quickly picked it up.]

Achaaaa... This thing was on all night? Geez... Where is my head, honestly.

[He gave it a weary look before turning it off.]

[ooc: Hey just returned from a long hiatus! And so, to explain what Klarth's been doing, he's been first checking on his friends when they were here, then a short grievance process since they all left him so he did quite a bit of thinking to himself and what to do next for a few days, and then back to researching the new information he was able to acquire before those ppl left. He was also helping people during Prince Nuada's raid and usual things when there's a curse going on and so forth. If there's a conflict let me know! But those are my assumptions for now~ also this is backdated to morning! Thanks!]

[Relieved to see she dropped the thought, he noticed the uneasiness and allowed it to slide. He lightly chuckled to the question and fell silent for a moment. Thinking about it, he thought to himself. It's already been that long since you've disappeared... huh... Magnus.]

Eleven years. [He finally answered, expressing the hardship he went through during those years with the deep tone of his voice. He tipped his hat, adjusting it on his head out of habit to hide his solemn face.]

It's been eleven years now. How time sure does fly, ha ha ha..

[Something was definitely off with the way he said it, but Rita couldn't figure it out. People weren't as easy to understand as blastia and formulas.]

Weren't you happy studying spirits?

[He quickly lifted his head and forced a smile.]

O-Of course. What makes you think otherwise? [Women were too intuitive he swore.]

[His reactions were too obvious. It was clear there was something wrong.]

You're not very convincing, you know.

[She narrowed her eyes at him, not about to let him off the hook just yet.]

[Well, it was worth the shot. He warmly smiled at her before looking down and over towards the book laying there. He spoke as he brushed his fingers against the rough cover.]

Spirits are truly magnificent and fascinating creatures. Each experiment was like a new adventure and each discovery was more rewarding than the last. So of course, naturally, I was very pleased.

[He paused as he momentarily contemplated on speaking of his past then proceeded softly after a light sigh.]

I simply wished the reasons for starting my research were something more pleasant. I've more or less come to terms with it now, especially after the journey against Dhaos and with the help of my friends. However... the thought still lingers from time to time.. Of how I've lost a mentor and a dear friend all due to spirits.

...Oh.

[Well, that explained his behaviour, though she hadn't really expected that. Still, it wasn't the kind of conflict she was unfamiliar with. There was no need to push it any further.

To distract herself and give her a moment to think, Rita loudly slurped some more of her juice. However, her mind drew a blank on what to say next.]

Uh, s-so...

[Think, think. There had to be something she could say, even if was completely irrelevant-]

H-hey, I just remembered--didn't I say I'd show you some spells if you summoned a spirit?

[He glanced over towards her. Perhaps it was a little too much. Of course, it would create an awkward moment for her. Though her efforts to change the subject made him smile more. She really was a good kid. He gathered himself and answered with enthusiasm.]

Oh~ That's right. We had a deal, didn't we? [Enough getting consoled, Klarth. He stood up to show that he was ready and pointed towards the door with his thumb.]

If you're up for it. Let's go, shall we?

[If anything, Rita was just embarrassed with herself. She knew it sounded stupid even when she said it, but she couldn't think of anything else. At least Klarth went along with it--she wasn't sure if that made her feel better or worse, but using her magic would help distract her anyway.]

Outside? That's fine with me.

[She stood as well and downed the remainder of her juice. It was a good thing Klarth had decided to take it outside, since she had no qualms about singing a bit of furniture here and there.]

[From what that sounded, she was definitely the type to get up and do without a second thought. How he saw his youth in her. Though a destroyed apartment was the last thing he wanted.

Picking up the book that was on the table for safety measures, Klarth headed for the door and opened it as he waited for Rita.]

[She probably wouldn't have used anything too flashy inside. Probably. Anyways, she followed him to the door.]

You said elves in your world could use magic naturally, right? What kind of magic is it?

[He guided her towards an open area near the apartment, where Cless and Chester used to practice.]

Hm, I can't say for all elves however, most are capable of using various kinds of magic- fire, water, wind, earth, lightening, and even light and dark. The ones Arche used ranged from the basic fireball, to the mid level Cyclone, and onto the high level artes such as Tidal Wave and Indignation. Though I suppose she may be a special case, considering most were obtained out of luck, some even gifts from the spirits in the form of a book.

That's definitely familiar. People can use bodhi blastia to use artes based on any of those elements. I don't use any light-type artes myself, but Fireball and Tidal Wave are a couple I'm used to using.

[He smiled and stopped half way across the field, placing his hands onto his sides.]

All right then. Let's see what you're made of.

[He couldn't wait to see how she would cast a spell. A human capable of using magic such as Fireball and Tidal Wave. How much more exciting can it get than that. It would be considered a miracle in his world.]

[She walked forward a couple steps, contemplating which spell to show off. After a challenge like that, she might as well do something impressive. She spread her feet, shifted her weight between them to keep rhythm, and activated the formula needed: it appeared as a glowing glyph beneath her feet, golden in colour.]

O sharpened rage, run through that which blocks our future...Stalagmite!

[She whirled around, arms extended, and the ground in front of her rumbled. Sharp pillars of stone exploded upwards, flinging earth everywhere.]

[He watched her graceful movements and recognizing the color of the glyph, he held his hat down and braced for it. His eyes widened as it came and a bright smile accompanied it along with a whistle.]

Phew~ A human casting Stalagmite. Never in my lifetime did I think I'd see it! This is amazing, Rita!

[Rita was busy inspecting her handiwork to judge how well she had improved the output and only half-listened to him.]

Huh? Oh. Yeah.

Hmm...looks a little more stable this time. Another seven or eight inches in diameter...

[He walked over to her while looking at the damage made. It really was Stalagmite, similar looking to Arche's and all. He recalled the feeling the blastia had given him and understood the power behind it. It was amazing and yet far too dangerous to be in just anyone's hands. As much as how he would have liked for humans to be able to perform an arte with a blink of an eye.. he knew there truly was no need for it now and probably was best that it never be. Catching the little bit she was mumbling, Klarth brought his attention back to her.]

Hm? Is something the matter?

[She took a few more moments to look over the rock spire before turning to Klarth to answer.]

Not really. I've just been working to improve the blastia as much as I can since I arrived here. I'd barely put together a working prototype before I ended up here--one to run off of mana instead of aer. The efficiency isn't like the old ones, but I'm working on it. It's actually improved quite a bit.

That's good to hear. This is the first time seeing it but from the looks of it, that spell is no basic level magic. Were you not able to cast it before?

Hm...It was probably possible but not without risking some serious damage. Now it's no problem for a spell like this--and you're right, that one was an intermediate-level spell.

[He sighed hopefully and gave a smile.] Now to work towards casting a higher level spell. Not that it's been necessary but it's best to be prepared for the worst.

Exactly. I'd rather have all my spells available for whatever the City throws at us next.

[She thought for a moment, then looked at him with a more serious expression.]

But just improving the blastia itself might not make a big difference. We still have the problem of some kind of...power dampener, like when Origin's mana was being siphoned away.

Hm. [He nodded.] Gathering enough mana to overcome that will be a big challenge not to mention dangerous. If we're to go that route, it's got to be precise. Not too little, not too much or it may run wild and get out of hand.

[The serious expression left her, replaced with a look of confidence. If it used aer or mana, she'd make it work somehow.]

A challenge, sure--but definitely not impossible. I've got the basics of an idea worked out already. I'm sure it'll be precise enough.

[He smiled to that look. He could see it in her eyes how determined she was.]

That's the spirit. We'll get it done. I'm certain of it.
