[Poly Entry 35:] Disappointment with a small chance of hope

[Klarth placed his third bottle of wine down as he blankly stared at the pieces of sample he was able to retrieve. Even so... they ended up coming back. A pure waste with nothing but pieces of rocks as souvenir. If there was one thing he hated, it was lack of progress and significant ones at that. The number of nights he spent drinking due to it during his research on the spirits were notorious.

It was then the corner of his eye caught the sight of his device. Ah... two days. He hadn't told anyone yet has he? If only.. if only they hadn't gone through that door as he suggested. He felt a sense of guilt agreeing to it even if he wasn't the only one that thought it was a good idea at the time. What was he to tell those who had high hopes for this expedition? Though he figured the others may have already said something.

Ah well.... Best to let his voice be heard he supposed, in case anyone was concerned. He decided to message Spencer first, having collected these samples when it bounced back.

...Was he no longer... Klarth gave a small smile to that. At least he was able to return home. He then decided to switch to voice to direct it to everyone instead.]

Ah... I'm back. [Spoke a soft and drowsy sounding voice with a small "hic" in the end.]

Enjoying my bottle as I ponder of what this world truly is and where it is to take me, I suppose. [He sighed as his enthusiasm died to a somber tone.]

[ And all that really just served to make Tyr a little annoyed. ]

[Heh, of course he couldn't fool Tyr. Or perhaps he didn't want to really.]

[ There's some sounds of him moving around - footsteps, doors opening and closing - before he addresses Klarth again. ]

[He smiled to hearing that.]

Hm? Ah... [He gave it a thought.] Come to think of it, I haven't eaten much lately... Anything you may have at home perhaps?

[ Tyr, however, turned worried hearing that. ]

I'll bring you something... You can come over any time you want to, you know... You don't need an invitation.

[And take a chance of the others seeing him like this? Not a chance.]

[ He goes through the kitchen and opts to grab some leftovers instead of making something. Hope no-one wanted those. ]

So what's been going on?

Hm? [He gave it a thought and then let out a soft "heh".]

..Nothing more than the obvious. [Hear him finish his glass and pour more.]

[ And Tyr sounds a little bitter. ]

So you've just been letting yourself go for these past few days?

[That tone hit a sore spot.]

[ If Tyr could hear that thought, he'd be more worried for Klarth. He hasn't failed anyone. ]

Says the one staying in trees. [He lightly jabbed with a chuckle.]

Help, huh... heh. Perhaps. That's why you're coming over, aren't you?

[ Tyr smiled a bit when he says that. Yeah, Tyr definitely has a thing for running off into the forest, but he's not going to do that from now on. ]

That's right... You're my friend, and... You can't neglect yourself.

[ At least Klarth lives in the city proper, unlike Rita and Yuri, and getting to his place doesn't take that long to get to his place. He's wearing a cloak over his normal clothes and has bag with him when he tries to open the door. ]

[Unlocked for him, Klarth waited till the boy at least poked his head in before lazily calling out from his room, where he sat at his desk with three empty bottles scattered and a few rock samples on his desk. Another opened bottle beside him with a cup in his hand.]

[ Somehow I forgot to reply to this ;_; ]

[ Tyr walks in without any further word. When he came to Klarth's room, it was easy to see Tyr's disapproval. Rocks and liquor bottles. He's not one to tell people to stop drinking, but this wasn't the way people should be drinking. ]

What are you doing?

[ He sets the bag of food on the desk on a relatively clear spot, pushing aside some bottles. ]

[He gave Tyr a glance and raised an arm with the cup in hand to acknowledge his presence.]

Yo. Haa? What does it look like? [He gave a small smirk before smelling the delicious coming out of the bag and drew his attention there instead.]

Oh~ smells good~ [He peeked inside.]

[ ...He managed a little smile. At least he didn't seem depressed now. Tyr begins to unload the containers of food onto the table in front of Klarth. It's nothing extravagant in there: A fillet of fish and steamed vegetables in one container and some noodles in another. Still, the Suikopartment has been cooking for themselves long enough to make decent food. ]

It looks like you're trying to substitute wine for everything else.

[He gratefully watched Tyr open the containers, taking note of each dish. In truth, he wasn't that hungry. Loss of appetite. But he knew he had to eat. He picked at the vegetables with his fingers, plopping them into his mouth and giving a satisfied noise.

When Tyr finally spoke, his cheery facade slightly wavered because of how much it hit home. Klarth gave a soft sigh.]

...Perhaps. [He spoke under his breath before raising his voice again and got up to retrieve a seat and/or glass for his guest.]

Ah, have a seat, have a seat~ You want a glass?

You should grab a fork to eat.

[ But he does take a seat, still watching Klarth. He knows he hit the nail on the head when Klarth's expression changes. It's...really sad. ]

Let's have some water instead, too. You're going to give yourself a headache like this.

Nah, don't be concerned. But all right, hold on.

[He slightly stumbled through in attempt to reach the kitchen. An excuse to get away for the minute to regain himself. He asked for this, didn't he? He knew this wasn't good and Tyr was there to help. What am I doing?]

[ And that was even more sad to see... He got up from his seat to follow Klarth. ] Actually, I'll take care of it. Just sit back down.
